The Trustees of the Health Care Fund created a one-time retiree health benefit for child care providers to access in retirement to assist with paying for health care expenses.
This benefit is available to childcare providers who:
- Apply for the Health Care Fund’s Reimbursement Program benefits by March 31, 2025
- Are approved for the Health Care Fund Reimbursement Program benefits effective January, February, or March 2025
The Retiree Health Benefit helps pay for medical costs in retirement.
There is no cost to providers.
How Do I Access Benefits?
In order to access Retiree Health Benefits, you must complete an application to report your retirement and request access to your funds.
For retirement benefits to be available for the provider, a retirement application will have to be submitted to CCPU.
- Providers who are 64 years old and under can access their retirement benefits after they have 9 consecutive months of no subsidized childcare payments
- Providers who are 65 years old and higher can access their retirement benefits after they have 3 consecutive months of no subsidized childcare payments
You cannot access Retiree Health Benefits if you are:
- Still receiving benefits from active enrollment in the Health Care Reimbursement Program, or
- If you are actively receiving state subsidized childcare payments.
Once your application to access funds has been processed, a debit card with funds will be mailed to you to pay for expenses after you retire from providing state-subsidized childcare.
Your benefits will follow the permissible expense guidance. You can review the guide below.
